Padlet- Let’s learn through pad together!

This time, I would like to introduce an online collaboration learning tool called padlet.
  • What is Padlet?

Padlet is basically a bulletin board or a wall in which people can share their ideas and thoughts with each other.


In terms of English language learning, teachers can use it to elicit answers and feedback from their students. Besides, teachers can also employ it as a pad for students to exchange their ideas with each other.

  • Make a Padlet with me

Step 1 Log in to the website of padlet and here is the URL of the padlet.(https://zh-cn.padlet.com/). Or sign in if you already have an account.


Step 2 After logging in, click ‘MAKE A PADLET’ to create a new pad.

Step 3 Choose ‘wall’ or other selection you may use. (In a language teaching classroom, ‘wall’ may be the most commonly used one, so I will use it to set an example.). 

Step 4 Choose the gear-like symbol to modify your wall.  

Step 5 Modify any items that you think is necessary.

Step 6 Click ‘share’ to share the link with your students, so that they can join in the discussion. You may share the link through the QR code or the URL.

As for students, they can add posts by clicking the 'add' button on the right bottom of the web page.

Why use it?
🌌Simplicity. This online application is easy to be used due to its simple UI. Buttons such as make a padlet, upload the padlet, share the link of the padlet are easy to be found.

🌌Collaboration. Teachers can see everyone's responses, which makes it easy for them to examine teaching effects and students' situation of grasping knowledge. Every student can see others' posts, inspiring them to generate new ideas. 

🌌Flexibility. Teachers and students may add any types of posts onto the wall, including words, voices and videos.


🌌Beautiful design. As the creator of the wall, the teacher can change the background of the wall
and the font of the words on the wall, making their pads attractive to students.

🌌Private. Language teachers can decide who (either the public or the students) have the access to their walls, protecting privacy of the class.


Limitations
⛅Redundant information. Teachers have to spend much time absorbing the thoughts posted on the wall if there are so many students in the classroom.

⛅Fewer attention. Students may spend time reading the posts on the wall instead of paying attention to what teachers have said.
